Helping Our Neighbors in Need

Every day a family or individual experiences hardships. Rent or utility increases, sickness or death, unemployment or homelessness are life-changing events that are never planned or welcomed, but there is help and hope.

The Center provides many opportunities for friends to help our Neighbors in Need. Find your passion and join the neighborhood today!

Donate Food

The Neighborhood Center of South Lake (TNC) is a designated 501c3 organization and operates entirely on donations. Time, Talent, and Treasure are equally important to fulfill our mission. 75% of all the food we provide to families is donated by our Grocery Alliance Partners, Second Harvest Food Bank, Community Partners, Small Businesses, and Individuals; the rest we must purchase.

We are lucky enough to have access to food at a reduced cost through Second Harvest Food Bank. This fills the food gap between the generosity of the community and the needs of the community.

When deciding what type of food to donate, please consider the following:

TNC can accept:

  • Unopened
  • Unspoiled
  • In unbroken/undamaged packaging
  • Within its "use by-or sell by" date
  • Properly Labeled
  • Commercially made and packaged foods that are subject to the US Dept of Agriculture Food Safety Standards

TNC cannot accept:

  • Damaged, Unpackaged Foods
  • Left Overs - we provide groceries, not meals
  • Homemade foods and baked goods
  • Frozen or Refrigerated Items from unlicensed vendors or individuals

Community Partners

“Be the Change you wish to see in the world”

– Mahatma Gandhi

Our Community Partners represent clubs, neighborhoods, and organizations who believe as we do, that No One Should Go Hungry. They join together to raise money and organize a food drive, event, or volunteer group to support the Neighborhood Center. TNC clients benefit from their efforts, but each group enjoys benefits too; camaraderie, fun times, and a united purpose. Whether organizing a food drive or fundraiser or investing in our mission through community grants, we are fortunate to be the chosen non-profit of these incredible partners. Thank You!

Corporate Partners

A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business.

– Henry Ford

Corporate engagement creates a positive impact for people within the in the communities they operate.

  • It strengthens customer relationships, increases corporate visibility, and enhances employee morale. Whether through a corporate sponsorship or grant, volunteering or events, you start a chain of positive goodwill that resonates throughout the community.
  • When your company (large or small) partners with the Neighborhood Center, you align with the largest food pantry in South Lake County: a mission that strengthens the foundation of community, and dedicated people who believe in giving back.

We work with our Corporate Partners to help meet a triad of goals: Your Company’s community mission and goals, The Neighborhood Center’s Goals, and those of the Community.

BECAUSE NO ONE SHOULD GO HUNGRY!

Hunger knows no boundaries – it touches every community. Every day more of our neighbors have to make the difficult choice of purchasing food for their family or paying for other needs including insurance, rent, utilities, medicine and more. Your donation of food and monies helps The Center provide food security for thousands of children, adults, seniors and veterans each month.

For every dollar donated, we can provide a family with enough groceries for 10 meals including fresh produce and bread. Your cash donation not only provides food security to more than 1,500 families each month, it provides hope.

Food donations are equally important for our neighbors in need. To learn more about making a food donation or organizing a food drive, please click here.

Please give today because no one should go hungry! Thank you!

Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mold the present into a future of which we can all be proud.

– Helen Dyer

Faith Partners

It’s not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.

– Mother Teresa

Over five decades ago, a very special group of six women from First United Methodist Church of Clermont were volunteering in their church and decided they could do more to help our neighbors in need.

Their compassion and kindness started this mission of care that continues today. Our many Faith Partners are an important part of their legacy, helping The Center serve the most vulnerable through donations, food drives, volunteering and referrals about our programs.
