Do You Need Help?

The Neighborhood Center of South Lake administers help to individuals who need food and various other forms of assistance. We treat our clients with respect and dignity, and strive to create a positive experience for all.

No matter what your reason is for visiting the Center, we are here to help.

What We Offer

Food Stamps and Medicaid

Normally, we have volunteers on duty who can assist you with Food Stamps and Medicaid applications. Call the center at 352-429-1200 before you come to find out what documents you need to bring with you.

Medical Assistance

You may be qualified to receive limited medical assistance every six months. We provide a letter of charity support which clients exclusively can take to the Community Health Centers to receive free or reduced-cost medical care. We will refer you to a special clinic. Call the Center for details.

Computer Training

The Center is now offering a variety of computer classes at no charge to clients. Call the Center for information on times and dates.

Other Services

The Center offers other benefits such as job training, income tax assistance, food baskets at Christmas, computer and cooking classes and is planning to offer additional services in the future. Check our home page for the time and dates of our classes and other services.

First Time? What to Expect

All of our services are offered at no charge to you. If you have any questions during your visit, ask one of our volunteers. We strive to make your visit painless and as enjoyable as possible. If you have not been to the Center before and feel you are in need of our services, bring in any information regarding any government services you are receiving, and an estimate of your monthly income.

See if you qualify.

Our front desk volunteers will ask you for some basic information about you and your family and establish that you qualify for our services:

  • You must be a resident of South Lake County, Florida to qualify for services- Mascotte, Groveland, Clermont, Minneola, Montverde and points between these and south to the county line.
  • We receive donations of food from government sources, so you must qualify based on your family income or government programs.

Note your food restrictions.

If you have food restrictions due to allergies or other medical conditions, make sure you notify the front desk volunteer so your restrictions are properly recorded.
