Helping Neighbors For Over 50 years!
The Center was founded over 50 years ago (1972) by a group of six women who answered the call to help their neighbors in need. The Center is the largest food pantry in South Lake County serving more than 400 families (2,000 individuals) each week. Our principal objective is to ensure we never turn a neighbor in need away.
Our School Break Feeding Program (SBFP) began in 2020 out of necessity because of the pandemic (and children not in schools); however, it became very apparent that the need was not solely due to the pandemic and that summer breaks were not the only time of need. This year, the Center expanded the SBFP to include Spring Break in addition to Summer Break and has also added Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks for a total of 14 weeks of assistance.
The following are services provided free to our clients:
- Weekly Food (full complement with meats, proteins 2x per month)
- Fresh Produce / Grains (received with full complement and alternate weeks)
- School Break Feeding Program (breakfast and lunch groceries each week during every school break)
- Emergency assistance
- Benefit Specialist assistance (with SNAP and Medicaid applications)
- Case Management assistance for rent, mortgage, utility, repairs, job opportunities and more.
